Are you ready for spring? I know it’s February, but I am. And despite my whining and bemoaning, mother nature is not done with us. In the Northeast, we still have months of a moody winter blend of rain, snow and freezing temperatures ahead.
The smart ones have scheduled a flight down south to warmer weather. The rest of us will have to brace ourselves with exercise or participate in an indoor hobby, dancing is fun, to deal with cabin fever.
There is another way to beat the winter blues which is to change your home décor. The following look book will include a selection of furniture and accessories to give your living room a modern update with a natural vibe.
Don’t wait for spring, let’s dive into the Modern-Botanical Look Book!
1 Green Velvet Sofa
Introducing Eichholtz Brian Sofa by Sweetpea & Willow. This sofa is a show stopper by itself! The rolled arms and tufting will surely add luxury to your living room. But it’s the vibrant green velvet that makes it a statement piece.
2 Curvy Side Chair
The Joe Armchair by Laskasas has the curves and angled feet in keeping with our modern theme. The taupe velvet fabric and leather pillow is a perfect combination.
3 Abstract Rug
The Gold Dune Rug by Lime Lace is abstract but warm and brings together the taupe, silver and gold colors together nicely. It’s not over powering and lets the other pieces shine. Besides being super soft, it’s easy to clean, anti-shed and very hard wearing.
Hand made in Turkey and comes in 3 sizes.
4 Metallic Side Table
The Manuka side table by Covet House has simulated honeycomb cells, by way of hexagonal shapes, is both trendy and timeless. It comes with a smoky glass top to hold a table lamp, reading materials, small plants or drinks when friends are over.
5 Coffee table
This Eichholtz Ginkgo coffee table by Sweetpea & Willow is topped with six large ginkgo leaf design finished in vintage brass. If you want a modern and natural element to your living room, this table will surely fit the bill. The only down side would be that it’s just so beautiful, I may not ever set anything there.
6 Velvet Pillows
How can something so small have so much color power? The mustard color will brighten any room. The subtle palm pattern though is enough to remind me of warm beaches of the tropics.
7 Wall Mirror
My remedy for a dull wall is a mirror like this Gold Deco Square Mirror by Audenza. It will go well in a hallway or above the mantlepiece. Made from gold colored wrought iron.
8 New Paint Color
On an average, people repaint their home sometime between 5 to 10 years. So if you are tired of looking at all the scuff marks on your walls, it’s a good time to get an updated color. I’ve chosen a cozy griege, Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore, for walls which would go well with a new green sofa suggested here.
Tarrytown Green also from Benjamin Moore, is one of my favorite dark greens. Use it to create a stunning and elegant front door, or breathtaking cabinets. Yes, dark cabinets are in!
9 Indoor Plants
Lastly, let’s not forget that indoor plants don’t just that add natural beauty indoors, it will also do wonders to your health. Caring for plants is known to help improve mental health and helps to purify the air. House plants of any size will do, but this bird of paradise is my favorite for their broad and glossy leaves.
